Por outro lado, a necessidade de uma nova interven\u00e7\u00e3o cir\u00fargica para sua remo\u00e7\u00e3o fez com que crescesse o interesse pelo desenvolvimento de membranas absorv\u00edveis que oferecessem bom desempenho mec\u00e2nico, biocompatibilidade, baixa resposta inflamat\u00f3ria e principalmente, um tempo de reabsor\u00e7\u00e3o adequado (2).<\/p>\n<p>As membranas absorv\u00edveis podem ser de origem humana, ou hom\u00f3gena, de origem animal ou heter\u00f3gena ou sint\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>As membranas heter\u00f3genas, de origem animal, s\u00e3o compostas principalmente por matriz col\u00e1gena e apresentam um bom potencial de regenera\u00e7\u00e3o do tecido, uma vez que induzem vasculariza\u00e7\u00e3o, migra\u00e7\u00e3o celular, ades\u00e3o e forma\u00e7\u00e3o de tecido conjuntivo. No entanto, essas membranas s\u00e3o dif\u00edceis de manusear, controlar, purificar e esterilizar, aumentando o risco de contamina\u00e7\u00e3o patog\u00eanica e viral, imunorreatividade e inflama\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00f3s-implante grave.<\/p>\n<p>Por sua vez, as membranas de origem sint\u00e9tica entregam os mesmos benef\u00edcios e indica\u00e7\u00f5es cl\u00ednicas das membranas heter\u00f3genas, com a vantagem adicional de apresentarem aus\u00eancia de imunogenicidade e baix\u00edssimo potencial de transmiss\u00e3o de doen\u00e7as (3).<\/p>\n<p>Nesse sentido, os materiais sint\u00e9ticos absorv\u00edveis s\u00e3o considerados a vanguarda das mat\u00e9rias-primas para o desenvolvimento de dispositivos m\u00e9dicos implant\u00e1veis. Entre os destaques, temos a polidioxanona (PDO) tamb\u00e9m conhecida como PDS, poli-p-dioxanona, PDX ou PDDX, um pol\u00edmero incolor sint\u00e9tico e absorv\u00edvel utilizado desde os anos 80 para a fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o de fios de sutura, pinos de fixa\u00e7\u00e3o ortop\u00e9dicos e mais recentemente, fios de sustenta\u00e7\u00e3o para lifting facial, os famosos fios de PDO (4).<\/p>\n<p>A polidioxanona \u00e9 n\u00e3o antig\u00eanica e n\u00e3o pirog\u00eanica e induz uma rea\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00ednima do tecido durante sua absor\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00f3s-implanta\u00e7\u00e3o, isso se d\u00e1 gra\u00e7as ao seu processo de degrada\u00e7\u00e3o por hidr\u00f3lise, um processo inerente ao organismo humano, que clinicamente se traduz num processo de reabsor\u00e7\u00e3o completa do pol\u00edmero que n\u00e3o contribui para a exacerba\u00e7\u00e3o do processo inflamat\u00f3rio p\u00f3s-operat\u00f3rio.
