Os biomateriais s\u00e3o agem no organismo, substituindo ou sendo incorporados ao tecido ou \u00f3rg\u00e3o a ser regenerado\/reconstru\u00eddo.<\/p>\n<p>Com o uso de biomateriais sint\u00e9ticos na implantodontia, o tratamento pode ser feito em \u00fanico procedimento cir\u00fargico com tempo reduzido, com menos dor (morbidade) e menor incid\u00eancia de complica\u00e7\u00f5es p\u00f3s-operat\u00f3rias.<\/p>\n<p>O uso de biomateriais particulados na Implantodontia<\/p>\n<p>Os substitutos \u00f3sseos sint\u00e9ticos, amplamente conhecido na Odontologia como biomateriais particulados, podem ser usados para preenchimento de defeitos \u00f3sseos, reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o da altura e espessura da mand\u00edbula ou maxila, levantamento de seio maxilar, possibilitando uma instala\u00e7\u00e3o do implante dent\u00e1rio segura e eficaz, devolvendo ao paciente a fun\u00e7\u00e3o mastigat\u00f3ria e a est\u00e9tica do sorriso.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 importante observar que os biomateriais s\u00e3o poderosos adjuvantes no processo de neoforma\u00e7\u00e3o \u00f3ssea, mas n\u00e3o s\u00e3o os \u00fanicos respons\u00e1veis, de tal modo que, o processo repara\u00e7\u00e3o \u00f3ssea se d\u00e1 por um processo fisiol\u00f3gico \u00fanico, que pode variar muito de pessoa para pessoa. Ali\u00e1s, a pr\u00f3pria qualidade do tecido \u00f3sseo que se formar\u00e1 vai variar conforme o tipo de biomaterial escolhido, as condi\u00e7\u00f5es de sa\u00fade do paciente e da habilidade cir\u00fargica do implantodontista.<\/p>\n<p>Assim, para aumentarmos os \u00edndices de sucesso do procedimento, devemos escolher um biomaterial que n\u00e3o induza resposta imunol\u00f3gica ant\u00edgeno-anticorpo, n\u00e3o seja citot\u00f3xico ou carcinog\u00eanico, n\u00e3o impe\u00e7a o fluxo sangu\u00edneo e de nutrientes, e n\u00e3o leve a uma resposta inflamat\u00f3ria aguda intensa ou cr\u00f4nica. A demanda por biomateriais que agreguem essas caracter\u00edsticas cresce de forma significativa a cada ano, principalmente os biomateriais de origem sint\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>Embora os enxertos aut\u00f3genos (enxerto do pr\u00f3prio indiv\u00edduo) serem considerados o padr\u00e3o \u201couro\u201d para enxertia \u00f3ssea, estes enxertos apresentam certos inconvenientes como: interven\u00e7\u00e3o cir\u00fargica em uma \u00e1rea doadora sadia; maior per\u00edodo de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o; maior susceptibilidade a infec\u00e7\u00f5es; e reabsor\u00e7\u00e3o progressiva e constante do enxerto ao longo do tempo. Dessa forma, a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o do material sint\u00e9tico pode viabilizar um procedimento mais r\u00e1pido e, ainda assim, com bom resultado para a instala\u00e7\u00e3o do implante.<\/p>\n<p>Tipos de biomateriais na implantodontia<\/p>\n<p>V\u00e1rias s\u00e3o as classifica\u00e7\u00f5es dos biomateriais utilizados na Implantodontia. De acordo com a compatibilidade que apresentam com os tecidos adjacentes, podem ser:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biotolerados: caracterizam-se pela presen\u00e7a de tecido conjuntivo fibroso entre o implante e o tecido \u00f3sseo. Praticamente todos os pol\u00edmeros sint\u00e9ticos n\u00e3o absorv\u00edveis e a grande maioria dos metais se enquadram nesta categoria.<\/li>\n<li>Bioinertes: caracterizam-se por uma neoforma\u00e7\u00e3o tecidual de contato com produto (implante). No entanto, n\u00e3o ocorre nenhuma rea\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica entre o tecido e o implante. Os implantes dent\u00e1rios s\u00e3o considerados bioinertes (osseointegra\u00e7\u00e3o implante\/tecido \u00f3sseo). Exemplos: alumina, zirc\u00f4nia, tit\u00e2nio, t\u00e2ntalo, ni\u00f3bio e carbono.<\/li>\n<li>Bioativos: caracterizam-se por promover uma rea\u00e7\u00e3o fisico-qu\u00edmica entre o implante e o leito recpetor, principalmente trocas i\u00f4nicas entre o produto e interface com leito receptor (plasma sangu\u00edneo e tecidos adjacentes) interferindo diretamente na osteog\u00eanese. Os principais materiais desta classe s\u00e3o as biocer\u00e2mica como: fosfatos de c\u00e1lcio (hidroxiapatita e \u03b2-TCP) e vidro bioativos. \u2013 Subclasse: os absorv\u00edveis, os quais caracterizam-se por, ap\u00f3s em contato com os tecidos serem degradados por hidr\u00f3lise ou a\u00e7\u00e3o enzim\u00e1tica, solubilizados ou fagocitados pelo organismo. Exemplos: produtos \u00e0 base de pol\u00edmero natural (col\u00e1geno, quitosana, \u00e1cido hialur\u00f4nico entre outros), pol\u00edmeros sint\u00e9ticos [PLLA (poli-L-\u00e1cido l\u00e1ctico), PLGA (\u00e1cido poli(l\u00e1tico-co-glic\u00f3lico), PDO (polidioxanona)] e biocer\u00e2mica (fosfato tric\u00e1lcico (TCP), outras fases de fosfato de c\u00e1lcio e vidros bioativos).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Classifica\u00e7\u00e3o em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 origem, podem ser:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aut\u00f3genos: obtidos de \u00e1reas doadoras do pr\u00f3prio indiv\u00edduo;<\/li>\n<li>Homog\u00eaneos: obtidos de indiv\u00edduos de esp\u00e9cie semelhante ao receptor (por meio de banco de ossos, por exemplo);<\/li>\n<li>Heter\u00f3genos: obtidos de indiv\u00edduos de esp\u00e9cies diferentes do receptor, sendo o mais comum a fonte bovina, su\u00edna ou equina;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sint\u00e9ticos ou alopl\u00e1sticos: podem ser met\u00e1licos,
